NGT approves Surat’s WtE plans

India’s National Green Tribunal has approved plans by the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) to set up a WtE plant. Even as earlier sources report on possible project delays of up to two years due to problems connected to the construction ground, SMC claims it will build the facility within 18 months. The facility was previously announced to have a treatment capacity amounting to 1,000 tpd of mixed waste, with a power generation capacity of 13 MW. This was reported by the Times of India.
