As reported by The Hindu, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Bareilly Nagar Nigam to identify and acquire land for setting up municipal solid waste processing plants. The tribunal also requested the municipality to produce timely plans for the disposal of legacy waste disposed of at Bakarganj dumping sites. According to the counsel representing Nagar Nigam, approximately 4.3 hectares of land had been purchased in the Bahgulpor district with the intention of setting up a Waste-to-Energy plant. However, the source does not contain any information on the technology to be installed at the planned Waste-to-Energy plant.
