No EIA for Brahmapuram WtE project

According to The Times of India, the Brahmapuram WtE project should be built without conducting an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). A Detailed Project Report (DPR) from the Kochi Municipal Corporation (KMC) states that central government norms do not require such a study as long as the facility’s generation capacity will not exceed 10 MW. The 109,500 tpy Brahmapuram plant is being developed by company GJ Nature Care Ltd on behalf of KMC. As stated in earlier sources, the facility should also be equipped with gasification technology.
