According to The Hindu, no progress has been recorded on any of the 3 Bangalore WtE projects already approved by local body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The projects include a proposal by firm Saratem to set up a 1,000 tpd plant in the village of Gorur, plans by company Essel for a 500 tpy plant and a 600 tpy proposal by firm Nexus Novas. All firms are facing significant problems with disputed land ownership and local protests. BBMP now intends to issue notices to the companies to either start work immediately or vacate the projects for other firms. After recently winning a legal challenge, Saratem apparently plans to start construction next month.
