India-based NTPC Ltd. (National Thermal Power Corporation) is inviting companies to place bids for new WtE projects under the government’s Swachh Bharat programme. The Swachh Bharat campaign serves the aim of promoting cleanliness and sustainability in India and was launched back in 2014. NTPC itself has already begun constructing a new WtE project in Badarpur in early 2017. This plant will have an intake capacity of around 400 tpd of waste. NTPC is offering potential developers the land to build projects on and emphasises that it would make sure to supply enough municipal solid waste from local bodies for any future plants. NTPC has stated that it welcomes bids from both national and international companies. According to The Economic Times, NTPC declared to be planning to construct around 100 new WtE facilities under the Swachh Bharat programme.
