The Odisha government has announced that Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) will contribute to rural waste management efforts in the state. Specifically, the ULBs have been asked to leverage their Fecal Sludge Management (FSM) and Plastic Waste Management ( PWM) facilities to cater to the requirements of rural areas.

According to a report on Odishatv.in, FSM plants are functioning in 45 ULBs and are under construction in the remaining ULBs. Similarly Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) have been set up in all the ULBs to process plastic waste. As per a government statement, this will help save resources.
