The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has approved the expansion of the Okhla Waste to Energy plant, Delhi, after the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) has refused the proposal in September 2022.

Operator Okhla Waste Management Company Limited wishes to extend the facility from 23 MW capacity to 40 MW. The NGT has furthermore ruled that the expansion can be realised without environmental clearance, if it is consistent with environment norms. The EAC has denied the project because of the lack of information on the nature of modification and environmental implications.
