Planned WtE plant in Brahmapuram struggles

The New Indian Express reports that officials of the Kochi urban area struggle with the implementation of a WtE plant to solve the city’s waste crisis. Kitco and Suchitwa Mission, the two companies chosen to build the facility by a public tender in 2013 (see also issue 2014-13), said the civic body would likely fail to provide the necessary conditions for the project. Plans provide for a 300 tpd MSW WtE plant, even if the agglomeration area of Kochi only produces 165 tpd. The plant would be located in the city of Brahmapuram near Kochi, according to the New Indian Express.
