The State Cabinet has approved the proposal by oil and gas company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to develop a CBG plant at the Brahmapuram landfill in Kochi, Kerala.

Initially, the plant should process 150 tpd of household biowaste to produce CBG. The input capacity should then be gradually increased, as further reported.

BPCL is to submit a more detailed project proposal by 1 October 2023. According to earlier information, the company is expecting to realise the plant within 1 year.
