Plans for WtE plant in Chennai

There are plans to build a WtE facility in Kuthambakkam, a suburb of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This was reported by The Hindu. Representatives of companies from various countries made proposals at a meeting at the seat of the Madras Corporation, the municipal corporation of Chennai. Five of the six proposals implied incineration technology and one implied gasification technology. Initially, more than 2,500 tons of MSW, generated in the southern parts of the city, will be processed in Kuthambakkam. Chennai generates 4,900 tons of MSW every day. The waste has a high moisture content.
