The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), Maharashtra, plans to develop a WtE plant in the suburb of Turbhe, as reported by The Hindu. The PPP project may be carried out under the Swachh Bharat Mission, a national campaign by the Ministry of Urban Development. Investment costs for the 8 to 10 MW project may amount to Rs 180 crore (around EUR 24.3 million), including the expansion of an already existing MSW processing plant. Today, around 675 metric tons of solid waste are being produced in Navi Mumbai, which is expected to increase to 1,000 tons in the years to come. The MSW delivered to the proposed plant could be converted into RDF or fuel plates for energy production in power plants.
