Plans to reopen biogas plant in Vijayawada

The city of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, currently plans to reopen a bio-methanation plant which was built in 2004 in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada, as reported by Deccan Chronicle. By doing so, the city hopes to generate additional electricity from waste as well as further revenue. However, the source does not state the actual plant capacity. Vijayawada also plans to cease open landfilling of waste in the city. As the source indicates, 500 tpd of waste is being generated in the city, 300 tpd of vegetable waste and 200 tpd of slaughterhouse residues.
