The Bombay High Court has allowed the Pune Municipal Corporation to access dumping sites at Phursungi and Uruli Devachi on an undertaking that it will conduct biomining activities only – and not dump unprocessed garbage.

This comes around two months after the civic body’s trucks were barred from entering the site leading to mounting piles of garbage around the city. The PMC had filed a writ petition in Mumbai HC raising concerns about public health, reports Pune Mirror.

The PMC has assured the Bombay HC that it will start biomining at the site and activate all other waste treatment plants in the city in order to prevent unprocessed waste from being delivered to the Phursungi and Uruli Devachi site.
