Punjab has achieved almost 100 per cent door-to-door collection and segregation of municipal solid waste, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan has said.
The Chief Secretary said that the state would intensify its efforts for the management of solid waste, as well as biomedical and plastic. The state has also prepared 14 district environment plans to address the problem of pollution at the district level, reports The Tribune.
There are 167 Urban Local Bodies within the state generating 4100 TPD of solid waste. Until last year, the state claimed that 90 percent of the waste was being collected.
