Punjab PCB cracks whip on private SWM firm for poor service

The Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) has imposed a Rs 10 lakh bank guarantee on private firm A2Z Waste Management for poor management of solid waste at the Tajpur Road garbage dump. The firm is accused of using inefficient reduced derived fuel (RDF) plant for garbage recycling. Recently, a few fire incidents were also reported at the dump for which the company has been held responsible.

The Times of India reports that PPCB officials claimed that the company would have to deposit a bank guarantee with them, else further action will have to be initiated against the firm.
