Record turnout at IFAT India

IFAT – India 2019 was held at Mumbai Exhibition Centre from October 16 – 18

The recently concluded seventh edition of IFAT India 2019 witnessed a 29 per cent increase in visitor numbers as compared to last year, according to information provided by the organizers.

Held between October 16 to 18 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, there were a record 9,633 trade visitors and 311 exhibitors this year. Almost 97 per cent of the visitors were from India. Other attendees were from Germany, China, Indonesia, South Korea and Austria (in this order).

With record participation from 23 countries, it was the most ‘international’ IFAT India ever. For the first-time, there was a Canada pavilion. Overall, international participation by exhibitors jumped by over 30 per cent, underlining growing demand for environmental technologies in the subcontinent.

This year, the exhibition focused on solutions for developing sustainable waste management and modernizing India’s environmental infrastructure with the goal of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. E-waste and waste-to-energy were also popular topics of discussion.“The e-waste sector in India is growing rapidly, creating a demand for environmentally sound e-waste recycling and thereby opening up a lot of opportunities in green jobs as well as technical innovations and entrepreneurship,” says Ms. Deepali Sinha Khetriwal, Managing Director of Sofies Sustainability Leaders Pvt. Ltd.

IFAT’s next Mumbai edition will be held from October 13 to 15, 2020. In the meantime, preparations are underway for IFAT’s premiere New Delhi edition. IFAT Delhi, a new platform for northern India, will be launched at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi from January 29 to 31, 2020 to coincide with the World Sustainable Development Summit 2020.

IFAT India is one of India’s leading environmental technologies trade fair, organized by Messe Muenchen India, since 2013.
