Reports: Goa civic authorities to build new waste facility at Verna

A survey report prepared for formulating the solid waste management policy for the state, says that currently North Goa generates 467 tonne of waste per day while South Goa generates 299 tonne of waste every day.

The report, available with the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC), estimates that the state will generate 888 tonne of waste per day by 2025, 992 tonne per day by 2030 and 1,108 tonne per day by 2035.

Navhind Times reveals that in order to tackle the unscientific disposal of waste in South Goa district, the  GWMC has proposed a bio-digestor plant and landfill facility at Verna, which will  aim recover energy through anaerobic bio-digestion for producing biogas and will recycle material through the aerobic treatment for the production of compost.
