Srinagar Mayor seeks financial support for SWM

The Mayor of Srinagar Mr Junaid Azim Mattu held a meeting with the Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Mr Hardeep Puri to discuss various issues related to the improvisation of solid waste management in Srinagar.

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) is actively looking to implement a long-term plan for Integrated Solid Waste Management.

Mr Mattu stressed that the SMC is currently facing a severe shortfall of manpower, key mechanical equipment, adequate solid waste management vehicles, and other infrastructure as envisaged in the Swachh Bharat Mission guidelines. He said that the Smart City funding should be focused on the up-gradation and augmentation of basic civic services and infrastructure to start with. reports news agency UNI.
