The Tamil Nadu government plans to establish a separate solid waste management corporation, similar to the agency in Goa.

Mr Siva V Meyyanathan, the state minister for climate change and environment said that this agency will be led by an IAS officer and will only develop policies and take action against local governments and private entities that violate solid waste regulations.

Discussions are underway with the chief minister’s office and the plan is expected to be implemented soon, reports The Times of India.
