Telangana claims to have become among the few states in the country that has been ensuring 100 per cent scientific treatment of biomedical waste generated in the state.
In all years from 2016-17 to 2020-21, the Government says it has ensured that 100% of the Bio-Medical Waste (BMW) generated in the state is treated either through incineration or autoclaved.
In 2016, about 13,220 kgs of biomedical waste was generated a day in the State and it increased to 23,810 kgs in 2020. And, all the biomedical waste generated was treated through various methods, according to the state’s Socio Economic Outlook 2022.
