The Udupi City Municipal Council has released an invitation to tender for the preparation of a detailed project report for setting up a WtE plant at the Solid Waste Management Plant in Alevoor, a village within the city’s boundaries. The council is looking for a company to establish a 1 MW, 70 tpd pyrolysis plant on a design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis. Udupi has a population of 125,000 inhabitants and produces 55 tons of waste daily, 59 % of which is organic. Door to door waste collection currently covers 70 % of the city’s households, according to The Hindu.
