Tirupati to implement higher user charges

The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has announced plans to increase user charges for waste collection from households and commercial establishments. The corporation has proposed to collect Rs 40 and Rs 60 per month from July 1. The amount to be collected from residents of slum areas has not been finalised yet.

Civic body officials informed The New Indian Express that the fee hike is aimed at meeting the costs incurred by the MCT for waste segregation. With the revised charges, the MCT aims to collect an estimated Rs 1 crore each month.
