UltraTech Cement receives waste from Vellore

According to Global CemFuel, UltraTech Cement’s Reddipalayam cement plant at Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, has started receiving MSW waste from the Vellore Municipal Corporation. The Reddipalayam cement plant normally treats RDF from a 150km radius but a special exception has been made in this case. The distance between Ariyalur and Vellore amounts to nearly 240km. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the cement producer and the Vellore Municipal Corporation to supply regular consignments of non-biodegradable wastes. Currently UltraTech has delivery contracts of RDF with 24 municipalities.
