India’s National Green Tribunal (NGT) is increasing the pressure on the local government of Srinagar regarding the implementation of the Achan WtE project, The Kashmir Observer reports. The local administration of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, had previously been given a September deadline for the completion of the project, but was unable to meet this deadline. Contradictory to earlier information, construction works for the project have not yet begun. The NGT now has directed the local bodies to start construction works until mid-November. Reportedly, a yet unnamed contractor for the project has already been found.
