Update on Chennai WtE projects

According to local officials, the 2 planned WtE facilities in Perungudi and Kodungaiyur are feasible. The IDR 24 billion (EUR 342 million) projects should generate 58 MW of power by processing 5,000 tons of MSW per day. A private company should construct, own and operate the facilities before they are being transferred to Chennai Corporation. However, the projects are controversial among local residents. This was reported by The Hindu.
