Nagpur is currently facing challenges in garbage collection as new contractors take charge
The development of a WtE facility at the Bhandewadi landfill site has faced several problems so far, as ecoprog reported. Operator Essel Infraprojects, which is partnering with Hitachi Zosen India Private Ltd., has now proposed to receive the city’s waste at the facility, since it has set up waste segregation equipment at the site. Construction works at the plant have not commenced yet. Development of the project has been delayed because of financial difficulties. Recently, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had issued a warning to terminate Essel’s contract if the construction at the site did not commence soon. This has been reported by The Times of India.
