Update on planned WtE project at Moshi landfill

Some new details on the proposed WtE project at the Moshi landfill site, near Pimpri Chinchwad, have surfaced this week: The envisioned WtE plant is expected to generate 11MW of power and will be built and operated on a Private-Public-Partnership (PPP) basis. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will provide the land and the residual waste that is processed at the future facility, whereas the private contractor will be responsible for all other investments. According to the PCMC, 6 companies have been shortlisted as potential contractors. As reported by The Times of India, the bidding process is still in place at the moment and, once terminated, PCMC will choose a contractor among the bidders. The project is expected to be completed around 2 years after the start of construction works.
