Aafrin Kidwai The Ajithsingh Nagar dump yard reclamation project is finally complete. Sharing the news on a social media platform, Mr Nagesh Prabhu Chinivartha, Co-Founder and Director – Zigma Global Environ Solutions Pvt Ltd, which implemented the biomining project wrote, “Zigma is happy to announce the handing over of 45 acres of reclaimed land, which was an erstwhile dumpsite back to Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. Landfill Mining ensured processing of 3.05 lakh MT of legacy waste and complete responsible disposal of all aggregates.”
The bio-mining project began in July 2018 following several protests by local residents who were affected by the foul smell and gases emanating from the dumping yard.
Last month, the foundation stone was also laid for the transformation of the dumping yard into a park at a cost of ₹10 crore.
