The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has floated tenders to procure seven lakh garbage bins. The bins will be distributed to over two lakh households belonging to the below the poverty line in the city.

As reported by SolidWasteIndia earlier, GVMC decided not to collect the unsegregated garbage from the public but lack of bins has been a challenge in implementing the rule, according to The Times of India. The GVMC had previously distributed about one lakh bins in 2020.

Meanwhile, Ahmedabad Mirror reports that the city civic body is spending over Rs 4 crore to procure bins for distribution in 16 lakh households.
