The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched weekly door-to-door collection of electronic waste (e-waste).
The drive is being conducted to avoid the mixing of municipal solid waste with e-waste at the household level. The e-waste will be collected from homes in 10 wards initially, every Saturday, and will be taken to a material recovery facility (MRF), which has been opened near the city micro-composting centre.
The state pollution control board has already authorised the e-waste collectors for the same, Additional Commissioner Laxmikanta Sethi informed The Times of India.
