World Bank team visits biomining site in Kerala

A World Bank team inspected the biomining technology used for waste disposal at the Kureepuzha trash dumping site on the banks of Ashtamudi Lake.

The World Bank is providing Rs 2,300 crore in funding to the Kerala local self-government department for solid waste management projects worth Rs 3,000 crore.

Since Kureepuzha is located on the banks of Ashtamudi, a Ramsar site with worldwide significance, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) intervened to have the waste removed, reports Mathrubhumi.com
