WtE gasification plant to be built at Ghazipur landfill

According to The Daily Pioneer, the East Dheli Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has signed an agreement with Dheli-based waste processing company AG Dauters for the construction of a WtE gasification plant that will be fuelled with decomposed landfill waste from the Ghazipur landfill site. According to AG Dauters, 50 MW of capacity will be set up in a pilot testing phase, processing 200 tons of waste per day. The capacity should be increased to up to 560 MW by processing 1,500 tpd. After 1 year, EDMC can extend the agreement to 21 years and replicate this model at other landfills. Initially, the Ghazipur landfill site was meant to be closed 15 years ago and then collapsed in 2017.
