WtE plant proposed in Ongole

A WtE project is currently being proposed in the city of Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. According to a project report by Delhi-based company IPE Global Private Limited, the plant would have a treatment capacity of 200 tpd. Waste would be sourced in Ongole and the surrounding towns of Kandukur, Addanki and Chimakurthy. The state government of Andhra Pradesh was said to contribute 25% of the project costs. However, it is not clear whether the facility would in fact treat solid waste, as, according to the Ongole Municipal Corporation (OMC), more than 70% of Ongole’s daily waste volumes are wet waste. This was reported by The Hindu.
