10 CBG plants to be set up in Punjab

The Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) to set up 10 compressed biogas (CBG) projects in Punjab.

The plants are expected to produce a total of 35,000 tpy of CBG per year. Investment costs are expected to amount to INR 6 billion (EUR 68.1 million), with an expected revenue of INR 3 billion (EUR 34 million) annually. The plants should process 275,000 tpy of paddy straw, which will be supplied by about 50 rural enterprises.
