According to The Economic Times, the state government of Andhra Pradesh has allowed 10 municipal institutions to enter into contracts with private companies, aiming to set up WtE facilities to generate 66 MW. Of the 4 companies, Essel Group was the only corporation named in the article. The municipal institutions will provide land and waste to the firms. Once power is generated by the plants, the government would then buy this power for Rs 7.5 per unit over a period of 25 years. After this period, the municipal institutions would take over ownership of the plants.
