The government of the state of Himachal Pradesh has decided to establish 6 solid waste management plants through public-private partnership (PPP). The plants, which will cost Rs 50 crore (EUR 6.6 million) each, will be constructed in Baddi, Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, Sirmaur and Hamirpur. The State Pollution Control Board has appointed a technical consultant for setting up the plants, while the Infrastructure Development Board has appointed a transaction adviser for technical advice. According to The Tribune, the decision on whether to establish Waste-to-Energy, waste-to-biogas or compost plants will be based on the consultant’s recommendation.
