8.4 million kg of plastic waste collected since SBM 2.0 began

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mr Anurag Thakur has said that 8.4 million kg of plastic waste has been collected across India since the start of the Swachh Bharat 2.0 programme.

Thakur also started a cleaning campaign in the Chandni Chowk neighbourhood of Delhi as part of the campaign. The nationwide collection of 10 million kg of plastic garbage is the goal of the cleanliness campaign.

He advised the young to set aside two days around the Diwali holiday to maintain a clean environment.

On October 1, 2022, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated a Swachh Bharat programme that would last one month and be carried out in 744 districts throughout the nation, reports Business Standard.
