The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India has announced plans to subsidise the production of wood pellets.

According to the news report, a fund of INR 500 million (EUR 6.23 million) has been set up to support pellet producers in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Utter Pradesh, and Delhi.

The measure is aimed at promoting biomass co-firing in power plants, as a lack of pellet availability has been identified as a reason why co-firing targets have not been met so far.
