Andhra announces new industrial waste management corporation

A new corporation has been created to take care of the management of hazardous waste from industries in Andhra Pradesh (AP). The AP Environment Management Corporation (APEMC) will collect green taxes from the respective industries depending on the costs involved in the disposal of waste

The Times of India quoted officials as saying that about 2000 red-category industries were operating in the state of the total 9000 industries. The new corporation will track the entire industrial waste and its transportation. It will also contain the unscientific disposal of chemical and hazardous wastes without treatment into rivers and sea waters.
