San Diego, California-based WtE project developer Astra Energy has recently formed a joint venture with Astra Regreen India (ARI) for equipment sale and plant installations.

ARI should hold the rights for sales, marketing, and distribution of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in South India. As further stated in the report, as part of the joint venture, a 30,000 sq ft MRF is expected to be set up at a certain, unnamed landfill. A minimum of 300 tpd of MSW should be initially treated.

Outputs from the MRF that include high calorific-value energy pellets are planned to be sold later on. Initial operation is expected to begin within a period of 6 months.
