Ban on open burning of waste materials by Telangana government

The Telangana government banned open burning of waste materials in open land and landfill sites with a violation charge of Rs 5000 for ‘simple burning’ and Rs 25,000 for bulk waste burning, according to The Times of India. The government also made it mandatory for power generation and cement plans in Telangana to make use of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in their respective plants, provided the RDF plant is located within 100 km radius of the power or cement plant.
