Public body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has entered a short-term contract with several unnamed cement factories in the state of Karnataka. As said, the cement producers will treat the RDF that has accumulated at BBMP’s several waste treatment sites, according to The Hindu. Under the deal brokered by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), the cement firms will use Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to remove the RDF stacks from BBMP’s sites. The plants were said to be too far away from the respective facilities for the transport to be economically viable. Accumulating RDF has already caused two fire incidents at BBMP’s facilities.
