BBMP seeks new contractors for unused WtE capacities

Bruhat Bengalaru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced that it is planning to float tenders for contractors in managing its 7 WtE plants, currently using only one-third of their total capacity. This was reported by the Deccan Chronicle. Among the waste processing plants, the only functional ones are the Lingadheeranahalli, Seegehalli, Kannahalli and Doddabidarakally plants while those in Chikkanagamangala and Subbarayanapalya have been shut down over a dispute with concerned contractors. According to a government official, the plants must be well running in next six months to prevent piling up of garbage.
