BBMP’s RDF transport deal fails

A planned RDF-deal between the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and cement factories in Kalabugari has been abandoned due to too heavy transportation cost. The BBMP has come to the decision to bury the 20,000tpy of produced RDF with mud rather than send it 600km north, where Kalaburagi is located, for an overall transportation cost of around USD 770.000. As reported by The Hindu, the local compost-plants of Bengaluru that supply the RDF are often struck by fires: Over the course of the last week, both the plant at Chigarenahalli and the plant at Kannahalli were affected by such accidents, as huge piles of RDF caught fire.
