The Kochi Corporation Council has given its green signal to Zonta Infratech for carrying out biomining of legacy waste at the Brahmapuram dumpsite.

The council also decided to hand over 20 acres at Brahmapuram to the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) for setting up the proposed waste-to-energy (WTE) plant at the site.

As SolidWasteIndia had reported earlier this month, the Kerala government was asked by the National Green Tribunal to expedite the biomining of legacy waste at the site.
