BMC: Consultant to be appointed to supervise Deonar WtE plant

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to appoint a Project Management Consultant (PMC) to supervise the construction of Mumbai’s first waste to energy (WtE) plant at Deonar. The consultant will be responsible for approving the designs, as well as monitor and supervise construction work, and resolve any disputes that may arise in the process, reports The Indian Express.

The contractor for the waste to energy plant was appointed in November last year and construction is expected to be completed in 9 months. However, work on site has not begun as the BMC is yet to secure Environment Clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment, as reported earlier on SolidWasteIndia.

The plant has a capacity to process 600 tonnes of waste and generate 4 megawatts of electricity per day.
