Celebrating six years of Swachhata

The Swachhata Ke 6 Saal Bemisaal event on the occasion of sixth anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) on Gandhi Jayanti in New Delhi today is focussing on the experiences of various states and UTs in SWM.

Titled ‘A Journey of Promises Fulfilled and Visible Transformation’, a national webinar with all States and Union Territories is currently being held and streamlined on SolidWasteIndia. Authorities will also chalk out their next steps towards a cleaner India.

Speaking at the event, Uttarakhand authorities highlighted their SWM strategy, given their limited land availability. Inspired by Chhatisgarh, the state spoke of its focus on decentralized composting as a driver for change. Visakhapatnam shared how SWM has turned into a people’s movement in the city. The city’s 15 MW WtE plant is expected to start functioning by December, as per the Vizag civic chief and will have a capacity to treat 1200 TPD waste.

You can listen to the other states/cities share their experience here.
