The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is exploring technologies to be used for the upgrade of the solid waste processing plant in Sector 25, near Dadumajra. The MC is also open to moving the plant to a different location, if needed.

Last year, the Chandigarh MC had voted for a waste to energy plant to manage city waste. The MC councillors had also visited several processing plants across the country to finalise the technology. Various firms had also made detailed presentations on different technology options before the administration officials.

IIT-Ropar is supporting the MC in preparing the RFP and DPR. Once it gets an approval from the administration, a tender will be floated to set up the new plant.
