Chennai City Authorities have passed a council resolution that approves two WtE plants at the Kodungaiyur and Perungudi landfills. The Perungudi WtE site is said to have a power production capacity of 26 MWel, while the Kodungaiyur plant is expected to have an installed capacity of 32 MWel. Both plants should be implemented as BOT projects. According to earlier reports by ecoprog, the total investment for both projects amounts to approximately EUR 200 million, as the New Indian Express reported.
