Two companies in Ahmedabad, Abellon Clean Energy Limited (ACEL) and Nepra Resource Management Private Limited (NRML), are investing heavily in waste management and recycling in Ahmedabad. ACEL has already invested Rs 500 crore in the Pirana waste-to-energy plant and plans to invest another Rs 500 crore for further capacity addition. NRML plans to invest Rs 350 crore in its recycling plants.

The waste-to-energy sector is expected to witness rapid growth due to policies, greater awareness, and civic bodies taking aggressive steps to enforce segregated waste collection.

The waste-to-energy sector in Gujarat is expected to see investments of Rs 4,000 crore in the next decade, according to a report in The Times of India.
